WETCC Wild Food Summit, June 21st-24th is Full!

We are sorry to say that the 2012 WETCC  Extension Service Wild Food Summit  is now full. People registered incredibly fast this year!
Here are other Wild Food Events  that are sure to be equally wonderful  and came to us as suggestions by one of our registrants.
The Midwest Wild Harvest Festival  is on August 24 to 26, in Prairie du Chien, WI.   Registration is not yet available, it is guaranteed to be great.  The best way to keep up with this one might be to join the Facebook group page at  http://www.facebook.com/groups/MidwestForagers/
Another cool local event worth checking out is the Lake Superior Traditional Ways week during August 12 to 18.  Again, registration isn’t yet up for this one either, but people could keep checking out their website at  http://traditionalways.org/
Please check back to our blog site at wildfoodsummit.org for more information.

March 9th-11th, Making the Scandinavian Knife

Friday,  5:00 PM – 8:00 PM- Design your knife and collect the pieces.

Saturday, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM- Prep and create the handle.

Sunday, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM –Shape the handle and get it ready for finishing.

In this workshop you will be using a high quality Norwegian or Finnish blade, curly birch, antler, and nickel silver to make an outdoors knife in the Scandinavian style. For this general purpose knife you will have three blades to choose from.  Many knife enthusiasts consider either the Scandinavian or handmade Japanese knives to be the best in the world.  The workshop will last from Friday evening through Sunday. If you have a beautiful piece of wood, horn, antler, rawhide, birchbark, or other material you would like to use for your knife handle, make sure to bring it to the workshop.

Instructor and Extension Director, Steve Dahlberg, started making knives at the age of 16 and has made hundreds of knives since then, mostly in the Scandinavian style.
